Good, bad, ugly: Colts' backups too much for Texans to handle

Injury issues weren't a valid excuse for the Houston Texans this week, as they were overmatched by an Indianapolis Colts team playing without its starting quarterback and Pro Bowl running back. Here are the biggest takeaways from the Texans' 31-20 loss in Sunday's home opener at NRG Stadium.

The good

While the Texans' offense was one-dimensional, their passing attack provided reason for optimism.

Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud built on a solid-but-unspectacular debut against the Baltimore Ravens, completing 30 of 47 passes for 384 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in Sunday's loss to the Colts.
